During Earthly Delight's 12
years in the soap making
business I have never seen
the price of any essential
oil fluctuate to such a
great degree that Patchouli
essential oil can.
Eight years ago it was so
extremely pricey that we had
to discontinue use of it for
nearly a year. It was
simply so expensive that no
rational human being would
want to purchase the
products at what we would
have to charge.
This
year, the price is steadily
rising. (You think the
Big Oil Dudes have control
of this market?) The
price in the last 3 months
has quadrupled!
This is more than we can
shoulder without raising the
cost of our products.
So you will find the
products that contain
Patchouli slightly higher
than other similar items.
Our only other alternative
would be to discontinue
these items, but we prefer
to price them fairly (based
on the Patchouli Oil costs),
then you can decide if it is
of value to you.
Be
assured, however, that we
are closely watching the
Patchouli market and
pricing, and as soon as it
gets down to a reasonable
price we will lower the
price of the products
containing that oil.
But also know, that if it
continues to rise, we must
continue to adjust the
prices accordingly.
